New On Disney Plus December 2021: The Book of Boba Fett, Welcome to Earth, And More

It snuck up on us, but the end of 2021 is finally in sight–and thankfully Disney+ has your back with lots of great new content to finish the year out with a real bang. Disney+ has announced its full set of movies, shows, and other original content for next month–here’s what you can expect to watch on Disney+ in December.

It feels a little cruel to highlight first, but easily one of the biggest standouts for the month is The Book of Boba Fett–which unfortunately doesn’t hit Disney+ until December 29. The series was first teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. The new show’s logline is as follows: The Book of Boba Fett “finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.” The streaming service released the first trailer for the series in early December, which you can check out below.

On December 8, Welcome to Earth–which is not a sci-fi or Star Wars spin-off–also sounds interesting. The six-part limited series is co-produced by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and features actor Will Smith in an “extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime adventure around the world to explore Earth’s greatest wonders and reveal its most hidden secrets.” If you’re a big fan of the highly-soothing David Attenborough-narrated documentaries available on other platforms, this should be your jam.
