Wrestlemania 37 Was Delayed Due to Thunderstorm

Update: Wrestlemania had been delayed to inculcate weather. After WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came out to welcome back fans and was supposed to start the show after America The Beautiful, fans inside the Raymond James Stadium were asked to come back inside. This is the first time in Wrestlemania, and maybe WWE history, that there’s been a rain delay for a live event. There was a Monday Night Raw that was canceled years back with a blizzard that rolled into Denver, but never with fans actively at a pay-per-view.

After the delay was confirmed, they cut to various superstars cutting promos and hyping up their respective matches, including Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley who even said that if the match has to be fought backstage, they’ll do it. Around 8:30 PM ET, the promo package for Lashley vs. McIntyre began playing, as the severe weather has passed.

Original story: Wrestlemania 37 faced a possible delay from a huge thunderstorm that rolled into Tampa early Saturday evening. Fans were reporting and tweeting about having to relocate and getting weather alerts while entering Raymond James Stadium.
