The first clip from Sony’s upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie has arrived, and it’s a mixture of sweet and scary. In the clip, we see Paul Rudd shopping at a grocery store when he stumbles by miniature versions of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from the first Ghostbusters film.
These marshmallow mini-pufts break out of their packaging and wreak havoc on the storm. They are also murderers, as some of them skewer others and roast them on a barbecue to make a s’more. They look sweet and cuddly, but appear to be actual monsters that are no fun to be around. Because they are so cute and cuddly-looking, it’s probably only a matter of time before Sony Pictures decides to whip them into a promotional product to sell, as is the way.
Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. Set in the same universe as the earlier films, Afterlife follows the story of a single mom and her two children who live in a small town. Several strange occurrences begin to take place, and the children discover their true family identity and who their grandfather actually is.
